Having ended the day fastest, Lewis Hamilton soon had the smile wiped from his face after being reprimanded by the stewards after the second free practice session. Indeed, It proved to be a difficult session for McLaren as Jenson Button, who was only capable of eighth, was also hauled before the stewards who include former F1 driver and Sportscar star Emanuele Pirro.
Hamilton's reprimand came after it was judged he crossed the white line at the pit entry, thereby contravening Article Appendix L Chapter 4(d) and 31.1 of the sporting regulations. The 2008 champion got off without a fine or penalty however, escaping with just a reprimand.
Button was less fortunate after being clocked at 64.4kph in the pitlane. Breach Article 30.12 was to cost the Englishman 1,000 euros.
