The Virgin cars will not run out of fuel during the Australian Grand Prix, says Lucas di Grassi, following concern the British team's fuel tank is too small to cope with the thirsty demands of the Albert Park circuit.
"There are some other tracks that have higher fuel consumption," he told Pitpass this morning. "There we have a small problem, but here it's fine."
The Virgin car was developed using CFD s opposed to a traditional wind tunnel, and didn't complete anything like a race distance before arriving in Bahrain. The team has since received approval from the FIA to increase the capacity of its fuel tank after it emerged the current tank was simply too small.
Of more pressing concern is the outfit's gearbox, which forced both drivers to miss second practice on Friday as well as ending Glock's race in Bahrain.
