McLaren says that after an inspection by its technical chief, Charlie Whiting, the FIA has given the rear wing on the MP4-25 the all-clear.
In the wake of the Barcelona test it emerged that Red Bull and Ferrari had expressed "concern" at a slot on the wing which was said to reduce drag and increases straight-line speed - a strong possibility considering that Lewis Hamilton posted the fastest time of the four day test.
Fearing a repeat of 2009, when the season opener was overshadowed by a legal row relating to the legality of the diffusers on the Red Bull, Williams and Toyota, Whiting was due to inspect the rear wing at McLaren's Woking HQ last week. Unfortunately, the Englishman was delayed whilst returning from a trip to Brazil and consequently the inspection was postponed until today.
Speaking this afternoon, a McLaren spokesman, while confirming the result of the inspection, insisted that the wing had "never been an issue".
