Two weeks after their Bahrain race one podium with Italy Luca Filippi, the Saudi/Malaysian owned team prepares for the ultimate and fourth round of the GP2 Asia season son their home track.
The team has revived hopes after its driver line-up of American Alexander Rossi and Italy's Luca Filippi showed good speed and potential in the last outing.
Upon arrival following recent GP3 at Paul Ricard kick-off tests where he topped the time sheets in three out of the four sessions at Circuit Paul Ricard, an impressive display by the young American , Alexander Rossi will be signing autographs to his fans at Seef Mall shopping on the last day of the teams Bahrain roadshow campaign where his car has been displayed.
The Bahrain round is an important event for MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com as it is the only team in the paddock with strong links to the Middle East through its Saudi Chairman, Raad S. Abduljawad.
Ambassadors from Malaysia to the UAE, Dato Yahaya bin Abdul Jabar and Dato'Syed Sultan Idris, Malaysian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as His Excellency Adam Ereli, American Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain will be cheering for the team on occasion of the last event of the GP2 Asia Championship.
Luca Filippi: "It will be our last race of the season with MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com this year. Going into the last race of the GP2 Asia Championship I am very anxious to do well and have a good result so that we can finish on a high and have the finish we deserve and score some very good points at the team's home race. The whole team and me have been working very hard and we are hoping for a great result in the last GP2 Asia race in Bahrain! We have already shown that we have strong potential, and this time in Bahrain, it is the right time to show it.
Alexander Rossi: "It will be my second race this season in Bahrain and I am very much looking forward to maximizing what I have learned in order to give the team a fantastic result in our final race together. I am ready to start a good week-end signing autographs for the Questnet fans of the team who are supporting me so strongly and most of all resume driving duties for MalaysiaQI-MeritusMaharaGP.com. My goal for this race is the same as any other and I plan to fight at the front of the grid continuing to challenge for a podium and race win. The fact that this is the 2010 Formula One season opener gives me even more motivation to push forward and achieve excellence."
Raad S. Abduljawad, Team Chairman, My Qi-Meritus.Mahara: "I am proud of the team and the good mix between our Malaysian and our Arabian roots. Good to be back in Bahrain for the last event of the season at our home race. It will be important to get as many points as possible in this final event in order to keep a good place in the Championship. Both drivers are on the case."
