Conditions much improved with some sunshine but rain expected later today and for the two remaining days of the test.
Virgin Racing has brought its day to an early conclusion as it awaits parts from the factory following the failure of a front wing after just 11 laps.
There were problems for Hulkenberg shortly after the session got underway but these were soon resolved allowing the German to go third quickest.
