There was a media frenzy at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo this morning as Fernando Alonso took to the track in his Ferrari F10, the Spanish two-time world champion making his debut for the legendary Italian team.
"It's dangerous out there," said Pitpass snapper Joanne Burnett, "they are fighting to get near his car, someone will get hurt. I have never seen anything like it in my life!"
The situation wasn't helped when, just a few laps into his debut, the Spaniard went quickest of the seven driver on track, crossing the line at 1:11.905, just 0.183s slower that teammate Felipe Massa's fastest lap posted yesterday.
Further along the pitlane, things were a little more dignified as reigning world champion Jenson Button made his debut for McLaren.
With Michael Schumacher back in action for Mercedes, today sees three world champions on track all with new teams. While, to add to the fun, Nico Hulkenberg is making his first appearance in the Williams FW32 and there is a noticeable Russian contingent here for Vitaly Petrov's debut.
