Ferrari has revealed that Felipe Massa is to drive one of its 2007 cars at Mugello this week, the Italian team claiming the outing is an early Christmas present.
The Brazilian, who has yet to drive an F1 car in anger following his accident during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, was at Maranello at the weekend attending the annual Christmas lunch for employees and their families.
After the 2008 runner-up, dressed in Santa outfit, had finished giving out presents, along with test drivers Luca Badoer and Marc Gene, team president Luca di Montezemolo announced that the Brazilian will drive an F2007, fitted with demonstration run tyres, with back-up from the Corse Clienti Department, later this week, though the exact date wasn't given as the weather forecast for the Mugello area is unsettled at present.
"I wanted to jump into a Formula 1 car before the end of the year, so I made the most of being in Maranello to do it," said Massa. "I would like to thank Ferrari for having giving me this present."
