Ahead of tomorrow's publication of the official 2010 calendar, Abu Dhabi GP organizers have admitted that they are hoping for a slot swap with Brazil.
This year Abu Dhabi hosted the final race of the season, however, much to the obvious frustration of the organizers, and Bernie Ecclestone, the championship was decided at the previous race, the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Next year, Abu Dhabi has been given the penultimate race, two weeks ahead of the Brazilian event, but organizers in the UAE are hoping to be allowed to swap dates in the hope that the championship will go down to the wire.
"I think the final slot for us is very important in terms of the grand prix as an overall event," Richard Cregan, the Yas Marina circuit's chief executive told Reuters. "With the destination we have in Abu Dhabi, it means that people will hopefully come there to the last event at the end of the season and then take some holiday or whatever with their families. It would be good for us to have that.
"We feel that we deserve to be last race and I'm sure they feel they deserve to be last," he added.
No doubt Bernie has already had a 'little word' and the Abu Dhabi organizers will get their wish.
