Malaysia-based Lotus F1 Team has announced that Alex Yoong is one of three new appointments to the team.
Yoong (right), who contested 18 Grands Prix for Minardi, together with outings in A1 GP, GP2 and CART, has been appointed Head of Driver Development (Asia) alongside Litespeed F3 team boss Nino Judge who will enjoy a similar role in Europe.
The other appointment is that of Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) chief operating officer, Mia Sharizman Ismail, to the role of head of operations (Asia).
Announcing the appointments, team principal Tony Fernandes said: "These new senior appointments will be a great boost for Lotus F1 Racing. The team have achieved many important milestones and we are on track to be on the grid in Bahrain next year."
"The young driver development scheme will play a key role in finding and developing future Malaysian drivers," added chief executive office, Riad Asmat, "and it is great that Litespeed can play such an important role in that process. There is a lot of raw motorsport talent in Malaysia and as the country's national F1 team, it is our responsibility to bring that to the fore."
