It is believed that a press conference later today will confirm that Canada is back on the calendar for 2010.
The highly popular event at Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, a regular on the calendar since 1978, was dropped in 2009 following a financial dispute between local authorities and Bernie Ecclestone. It meant that for the first time since 1958 F1 didn't visit North America.
However, after months of negotiations it appears the parties have finally settled their differences - which in F1 talk probably means they've agreed to Ecclestone's demands - with Mayor Gerald Tremblay and federal and provincial cabinet ministers calling a press conference for later today.
Though they were giving nothing away they did admit that it concerned a "major announcement concerning the Canadian Grand Prix".
