NEWS STORY
We are delighted to say that following our recent competition, whereby one lucky reader would win a 1:8 scale model Brawn BGP 001, we have a winner.
While many of the thousands that entered correctly predicted that Jenson Button would qualify 5th and finish the race in 3rd, only eight readers predicted that there would be 18 finishers.
Having put those 8 names into a hat, it was David Holmes from Lincoln who emerged as an outright winner. Thus far we have two runners-up, who each win a 1:12 scale nose cone, Francisco Alvarez Larequi from San Sebastian in Spain and Grant Wood from Kent, while a third runner-up has failed to get back to us, despite three attempts from us.
David was absolutely delighted to win the car, which now has pride of place in his home.
"When I entered the Abu Dhabi GP quiz I never imagined I would win, I am now glad I did," he told us. "The model arrived in very short order and I opened it with excitement. I was not disappointed, the packaging revealed the name of the person who built the model and the paperwork identified it as copy 22 in a run of 99.
"When it finally emerged from the substantial wrapping it took my breath away, the detail was astounding," he continued. "It is just as if they have taken a full sized car and shrunk it, option tyres adorn the wheels, sensors and telemetry ariels sprout from the bodywork.
"I have many limited editions as part of my collection but nothing comes close to this, if you can afford one and there any left buy one quickly before they disappear.
"Well done Jenson your achievement means even more now I own this."
While David received a 1:8 scale model of Jenson's Monaco Grand Prix winning car, it is worth noting that their version of the Brazil car - the race in which the Englishman secured the title - will be available at the end of the month.
