Ferrari has obtained permission from the stewards in Suzuka for Felipe Massa to test later this week as part of his rehabilitation process.
The Maranello outfit officially requested the stewards clarify whether their intention to conduct a private test in the context of his rehabilitation would constitute a breach of the 2009 sporting regulations.
They said they will not use a 2009 car (F60) or any of its components and that only GP2 Series tyres will be used. They also told the stewards that the test is being conducted by medical representatives and not the works team.
The stewards said this is not a breach of Article 22 of the Sporting Regulations and therefore the track test will follow a simulator test on Tuesday or Wednesday.
"Felipe's recovery is proceeding in a very positive way," said a spokesman for the team, "but there are no plans to accelerate his comeback."
