Flavio Briatore, who has been banned from FIA-sanctioned motorsport for life following his role in 'Crashgate' says he has been betrayed.
The Italian, who left Renault days before the French F1 team was due to attend an extraordinary meeting of the World Motor Sport Council at which it said it would not dispute the allegation that it fixed the result of the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix, believes he was betrayed not only by members of his own team but others within the F1 community.
As the sport waits to see what his next move will be, whether he will fight the lifetime ban or follow Bernie Ecclestone's advice and appeal, the Italian was under no illusion: "I have been betrayed," he told La Repubblica, "I have been betrayed by my own world."
However, looking ahead he added defiantly: "In the end I will win and you'll see we will have a great party. It will be organised well and we'll invite all the people who have stayed with me during these tough times."
