Outgoing, and out-going, FIA President Max Mosley hosted a 'farewell supper' for members of the British media in Monza last night.
At the end of an enjoyable evening, Mosley was presented with a gift which caused much mirth, a brown leather riding whip.
The whip, which was manufactured by Swaine Adeney Brigg - London's celebrated maker of equestrian & leather goods since 1750 - and whip makers to the Queen, was inscribed 'MRM. From Fleet Street's Finest. 10.9.09'. MRM being Mosley's initials, Max Rufus Mosley.
While Max was clearly delighted with the gift, he will be aware that there are two far more special present (potentially) in the pipeline, the election of Jean Todt as FIA President and the head of Flavio Briatore, an outspoken critic of Mosley in recent times and a leading light in FOTA, over his alleged role in 'Crashgate'.
Guess which would give him the most pleasure.
