A provisional 2010 calendar issued to the teams by FOM contains 18 races, though there remains uncertainty regarding two of the events.
With the official calendar due to be released in October, race fans will be delighted to see the return of Canada following its absence from the schedule this season. That said, according to informed Pitpass sources, only on Thursday, Bernie Ecclestone was saying that Canada will not be on the finished schedule.
The other race with a question mark against it is the British Grand Prix. Ecclestone has given Donington until the end of September to prove that it has the necessary funding in place to carry out the relevant upgrades. If the organizers fail to meet the F1 supremo's deadline however, it is thought the race will remain at Silverstone.
While organizers at Silverstone claim that they need more notice if they are to host the 2010 event, it is thought that this weeks vote, which essentially gives commercial control of the circuit to the BRDC Board, is all part of a bigger scheme to retain the event.
Despite financial problems which were said to signal the end of F1 at Hockenheim, the circuit is included on the schedule, while Shanghai is moved back to its traditional end of the year slot.
