The race for the 2009 GP2 Asia titles resumes this weekend at the Sepang International Circuit.
The 2009 GP2 Asia Series heads to the heat and humidity of Malaysia for the fifth and penultimate round of the Championship as the twenty-six drivers fight for the win in front of the Formula One paddock.
With a total of 26 points scored in Qatar during the fourth round of the season - the best result so far for a team in the course of a race weekend - Barwa International Campos Team's performance truly lit up the night-race event. The Spanish squad proved that they are back on top form, with the youngest driver in the field, rookie Sergio Perez, staking his claim as a serious title contender. Barwa now stands second in the Teams' championship, clearly aiming for the title.
After a disappointing fourth round in Doha for Championship leaders Kamui Kobayashi (right) and Dams, the French squad still remains firmly in control of the championship, while their Japanese driver remains ten points clear of nearest rival, Durango's Davide Valsecchi. Currently third in the drivers' standings, Nico Hülkenberg is replaced by Pastor Maldonado at ART Grand Prix for the remainder of the season. The Venezuelan's experience and speed will surely add to the action.
