While F1 fears that the ongoing financial crisis could see a number of teams follow Honda out of the sport, Bernie Ecclestone claims there will be three new entries in 2010.
"We'll have 26 cars on the grid next year, we've got a lot of people confirmed," the F1 supremo said ahead of this weekend's season opener.
While USGPE is due to enter the championship next year, little is known of what other other teams might be looking to enter the sport, indeed, it is claimed that both Renault and Toyota are keeping a careful eye on their continued involvement.
While the FIA is looking to encourage new teams under its plan for a £30m budget cap, which would allow those teams that opt for it greater technical freedom, there is growing concern among most of the existing teams at the proposal.
