While many of those in the paddock in recent weeks have been worrying about their job prospects, what with the imminent culling, a result of the sport's quest for dramatic cost cutting, Ross (Rossco) Turner has had other things on his mind.
Ross, who works for Absolute Taste the in-house company that provide McLaren's catering at races and tests, has been head chef on the test side for around three years. This week, at the ripe old age of 29, Ross is to undergo surgery for a hip replacement.
In recent months, despite the pain, Ross has struggled to continue his work, providing team personnel, VIP visitors and certain members of the media with the most wonderful food... his speciality being his sausages!
He is greatly missed by his friend and sous chef Stuart Caulderwell and team hospitality manager Jo Hand, who, along with the rest of the Woking team, and the team at Pitpass, wish him a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
A firm favourite with the Woking outfit, Ross was presented with two unique photographs signed by all his teammates including Lewis and Heikki, who are both understood to be partial to his bangers!
