Many thanks to Matt Bishop at McLaren, for tipping us off about this little YouTube gem, even if we don't believe a word of it.
With the move towards standard parts, standard circuits, the need to cut costs and the general feeling that the sport is being emasculated, some have wondered how long it is before drivers are made totally redundant.
This superb video clip suggests that what we once said in jest might have moved a little bit closer as Lewis Hamilton appears to drive his McLaren by remote control.
Replacing Lewis, Fernando or Kimi with an engineer armed with a remote control might save teams a lot of money, but surely this isn't the way of the future, is it?
As we said, we don't believe what we're seeing here - and it's a few weeks to April 1 - but those involved assure us its genuine. Yeh right!
"Vodafone tech is pretty mega," says Matt. "I wouldn't say it replaces the need for Lewis, because he's pretty mega too. But it's amazing what can be done with a Blackberry Storm and that's all I'm prepared to say about it at the moment!"
