With just over four weeks to go, the excitement is mounting.
Next week the majority of the teams will go head-to-head for the first time this year, with Force India and Toro Rosso both scheduled to run their new cars.
The BBC has revealed that it is to put licence payers money to good use for once, having secured a digital package that must have caused Bernie Ecclestone to wince.
In addition to bringing Murray Walker out of mothballs and securing the services of motor-mouth Eddie Jordan, the British broadcaster has confirmed that it will be using the theme tune (Fleetwood Mac's The Chain) that delighted F1 fans year in, year out, until Bernie did a secret deal with ITV.
As we all look forward to Melbourne, and beyond, basking in the warm glow of nostalgia, secretly fingering that evocative bass line, anticipating that screaming guitar, and sighing at the memory of Gilles on three-wheels, let's all hope for another blast from the past… racing.
Let's all hope that we don't have to hear the phrases "overtaking will be difficult here", "I had to save my engine" or "I thought I'd settle for second" any more, lets all hope that we get more than a couple of magical seat-of-your-pants moments this season, the sort of moments that caused many of us to fall in love with this sport in the first place.
