It would appear that the spy saga that blighted the 2007 season is finally reaching its conclusion, thereby allowing the sport to move on.

According to reports coming out of Italy, an agreement has been reached with investigators in Modena whereby a number of McLaren engineers have been fined for the role in the saga.

Rob Taylor, Jonathan Neale and Paddy Lowe have each been fined €150,000 (£132,000), while former chief designer Mike Coughlan has been fined €180,000 (£160,000).

The fact that the four men have accepted the fines suggests that all four are admitting their guilt. Meanwhile, the case against Nigel Stepney, who passed a 780-page Ferrari dossier to Coughlan, is still being pursued, as is an allegation of sabotage.
