A1GP organizers have quietly dropped the Mexican round of the series from the calendar.
Following this weekend's event in Gauteng, South Africa, the series was due to head to Mexico City in March and then on to Portimao in Portugal, however, buried away in the official press release for this weekend's race was the announcement: "A1GP Mexico City will no longer take place on 20-22 March, and as soon as A1GP receives the necessary FIA approval a new date will be announced."
The fourth season of A1GP has suffered a number of changes to its calendar leaving fans, teams, and presumably circuit owners, frustrated and confused.
The season opener at Mugello was cancelled due to the fact that not enough chassis were available, while the race in Indonesia (Jakarta) was cancelled when the FIA revealed that; "aspects of the track construction project had failed to meet the requisite completion deadlines".
On the same day that the Indonesia race was cancelled, A1GP organizers announced a date change for the Mexico City event in order to "avoid a clash with a Radiohead concert" (!), while a race scheduled for the week after Mexico has never been confirmed.
To add to the confusion, in its official calendar for 2009, the FIA revealed that A1GP is to head to Interlagos (Brazil) for the season finale on May 17, however, this has never been confirmed or denied by A1GP organizers.
