Max Mosley has revealed that the FIA has lifted the bans on Nigel Stepney (right) and Mike Coughlan, the two men at the heart of the spy scandal which rocked the sport in 2007.
Confirming the move, Mosley took the opportunity for a swipe at the increasingly chummy relationship between the two teams involved in the scandal.
"The other day we got a letter from the lawyers of one of them saying he has got this restriction and this restriction, and it does seem a little bit mad to make them serve out even longer when the two teams concerned are all making love to each other," said Mosley. "So, we have said we will let them forget it."
Following the scandal, the FIA recommended that companies within the motor racing industry should not employ either of the men, however, Stepney found a job with on-board camera firm Gigawave, and Coughlan now works for (transmission specialist) Ricardo.
The restrictions on the pair were due to run until July this year.
