Today marked the first day of testing for Ferrari as it began its preparations for the 2009 season.
Having originally been scheduled to join its rivals at Portimao in Portugal, the Maranello outfit made a last minute switch to Mugello following warnings that bad weather on the Algarve would disrupt at least two days of this week's test. Although the Portuguese track, where five teams were in action, was hit by rain, so too was Mugello.
A week after Felipe Massa gave the new F60 its debut at this track, it was teammate Kimi Raikkonen who today began the real work of developing the car for the season ahead.
Despite the adverse weather conditions, which meant a wet track all day and rain, occasionally heavy, in the afternoon. Raikkonen was able to rack up a good mileage, covering a total of 54 laps. The team reported no technical problems with the car.
The Finn continues here tomorrow.
