Pedro de la Rosa, taking over from Gary Paffett, set the pace on the second day of testing at the all-new Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.
Despite initial issues with grip caused by the low-speed circuit configuration, green track surface and cold December weather, the Spaniard, in the MP4-23K KERS car, quickly adapted to the new circuit. Alongside the KERS programme, he was also able to complete some 2009 aero testing, using an '09-spec front wing with moveable flick-ups.
Ferrari fielded its two official test drivers, Luca Badoer and Marc Gené. The duo continued with working on finding the best set-up for the car, which was fitted with 2009 spec tyres, and on evaluating new solutions for 2009. The Italian also continued with the endurance test of the engine, which began last week.
