Bernie Ecclestone will no doubt be delighted to hear that Bulgaria (pop 6.7m), and currently the second poorest nation in the EU, is considering the possibility of hosting a round of the Formula One World Championship.
"It'll be very difficult but I think we'll succeed," the President of the Bulgarian Motorcycling Federation (BMF) Bogdan Nikolov told 24 Chasa.
According to Nikolov, a proposal will be put to the FIA next Monday (Dec 15) and the F1 supremo a day later. The proposal includes plans for a circuit to be built near Pleven in the northern region.
Bulgaria is scheduled to host a round of the World Rally Championship in 2010 and a MotoGP round from 2011.
