Toyota has revealed that as part of the sport's cost cutting initiative, the team will forego the usual glitzy launch when it comes to unveiling its 2009 contender, the TF109.
Instead, the car will be introduced to the media and public on 20 January, the opening day of a three-day test at the new Algarve Motor Park in Portugal. However, the first pictures of the new car will be released on 15 January.
With the Japanese team finishing fifth in the 2008 Constructors' Championship, all eyes will be on the Cologne-based outfit next season to see if it can build on the progress made this year or face being overhauled by Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Williams.
Indeed, with Honda claiming that it will make a significant improvement (again) and Force India effectively becoming McLaren's B-team, Toyota will be under enormous pressure.
Talking of cost cuts, we hear from a reliable source that the Christmas party at Brackley has been cancelled. Bah Honda, so to speak.
