Having tested at the Bahrain International Circuit in February as part of their preparations for the 2008 season, Ferrari and Toyota are to test at the track again as they prepare for 2009.
Toyota is to head to Bahrain for four days of testing in December, while both teams will be in action in February.
"We have a number of testing dates in December," BIC chief executive Martin Whitaker told the Gulf Daily News. "Toyota are confirmed, but we still have interest from a lot of the other teams. Whether or not they will come depends on where they are in terms of their development programme.
"We've always been a good venue for testing for F1 teams," he continued, "and we're looking forward to it, and it's great to see Toyota and Ferrari's desire to test in Bahrain. They obviously see the benefit of being here, as they get some good running time and some decent temperatures."
"The test dates are open for all the other teams if they want to come. But it's likely that only Toyota will be here in December, because they are in that stage of their development."
