A1 Team France has announced that Nicolas Prost has been nominated as their driver for the next round of the 2008-09 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. The Frenchman will replace Loïc Duval who is engaged elsewhere in another event.
Nicolas had a very promising test session on the Silverstone circuit in England last week, and he will defend the team's colours in Chengdu in China this coming weekend. Prost, who is currently leading the Euroseries 3000 Championship, knows A1 Team France very well as he was their rookie driver last season. The team is delighted with the news and welcomes its new recruit as nominated driver.
Nicolas Prost: "I'm very happy to be part of A1 Team France's Chinese adventure this weekend, and I'm determined to give my all, as the team's currently sharing the lead with Malaysia. I felt at home straight away in the new car, and I set competitive times in my first test behind the wheel. So I'm tackling this meetin g with confidence, and I'll take things step by step."
Olivier Panis, sporting director: "We've made a great start to the 2008-09 championship and we feel it's time to give Nicolas his chance. Since last season he's done a great job for the team, and seems ready to take up the challenge posed by the race. We'll do everything we can to make his weekend as easy as possible, and we're convinced his performance in China will be an eye-opener for many people!"
