The first GP2 winter test continued at Jerez this morning. In perfect track conditions the performance of the GP2/08 car was at its best, with Kamui Kobayashi at the wheel of his DAMS car posting the quickest lap time.
The Japanese driver was closely followed by Davide Valsecchi (1:24.367) ahead of Koudai Tsukakoshi (Piquet Sports). Another impressive rookie was Charles Pic, fourth fastest for ART, and ahead of his teammate for the day, and also GP2 newcomer, Nico Hulkenberg.
Shanghai feature race winner Roldan Rodriguez, in the second Piquet car, was next up, ahead of Luca Filippi (Racing Engineering), Pastor Maldonado (iSport), Jérôme d'Ambrosio in the second Dams car and Diego Nunes (Campos).
Karun Chandhok completed 5 laps before being replaced at the wheel of the FMS car by Dutch driver Carlo van Dam. This afternoon, Belgium's Bertrand Baguette will replace Chris van der Drift for Trident.
