One week before the opening round of the second season of the GP2 Asia Series, Toyota ace Kamui Kobayashi continues to put pressure on his rivals, once again setting the fastest lap time of the day at Shanghai.
His teammate Jerome d'Ambrosio finished fourth in the afternoon session, perhaps signalling that the French team Dams might be the team to beat this season.
One man who could stop Kobayashi is Roldan Rodriguez (Piquet GP), the only other driver post a sub 1:46 lap.
Sakon Yamamoto at the wheel of the ART car was third fastest, closely followed by Durango's Valsecchi, whose earlier mechanical issues appear not to have been fully resolved.
Belgian d'Ambrosio was fourth quickest while iSport's rookie Van der Garde continues to impress, finishing ahead of Javier Villa (Super Nova, Vitaly Petrov (Campos) and another rookie Luiz Razia - who missed yesterday's session - in the second Super Nova car. The highly experienced Andreas Zuber (FMS) rounded up the Top 10.
