The Japanese driver posted the quickest lap time of a trouble-free session the afternoon with a 1:13.158, ahead of Alberto Valerio of Piquet Sports and Davide Valsecchi who has re-signed for another year with Durango for both GP2 Asia and GP2 Series.
Diego Nunes was fourth fastest at the wheel of the iSport car, ahead of Vitaly Petrov, rookie Oliver Turvey (ART Grand Prix), Roldan Rodriguez in the second Piquet Sports car, Paul Di Resta in the second ART car and Racing Engineering's Luiz Razia.
The session was stopped for a few minutes after Kevin Nai Chia Chen crashed his Fisichella Motor Sport International car at the back straight chicane.
