Heikki Kovalainen, who qualified third for tomorrow's German Grand Prix, has been hit with a 5,000 euro fine for breaching the rules pertaining to refuelling.
A statement issued by Race Stewards at Hockenheim read: "Car 23 was refuelled during Q2 using equipment that was not an FIA approved race refuelling system, and therefore the engine should have been stopped during the refuelling process."
While the driver breached Article 29.2 of the sporting regulations - hence the fine - his qualifying position is not affected.
