Even at the best of times, the F1 paddock is a twitchy place, with most inhabitants fully aware that here, more than anywhere else, people, usually journalists, tend to put two and two together and come up with a three-figure number.
Therefore, if you want to keep a secret it's best to do your talking well away from the paddock, well away from all those prying eyes and twitchy noses.
However, when The Times Edward Gorman saw Anthony Hamilton and Stefano Domenicali having a chat in the Hockenheim paddock yesterday, the point of the conversation was obvious, Ferrari is after Lewis.
Quite how a chat in broad daylight in the paddock can be regarded as "secret" remains a mystery, however, to put two and two together and come up with the idea of Lewis Hamilton - who has McLaren in his DNA - getting his Dad to sound out Ferrari, defies belief.
After all, we all know that Hamilton will go to BMW, that Alonso will return to McLaren and Kubica will join Michael Schumacher at Ferrari. But don't tell anyone.
