It is understood that British F3 team Ultimate Motorsport is seeking to purchase a stake in Toro Rosso, the Faenza-based F1 team currently co-owned by (Red Bull owner) Dietrich Mateschitz and Gerhard Berger.
It is claimed that Ultimate, which has serious financial support from the Angolan state oil company Sonangol, is in talks with the Italian team, though Red Bull has issued no comment.
Mateschitz has made no secret of his desire to sell his stake in Toro Rosso, which he hopes to complete before 2010 following the decision to change the rules relating to customer cars.
Ultimate, set up by former racer Barry Walsh, and which celebrated a double win at Snetterton at the weekend, enjoys a close relationship with the French manufacturer Mygale, which, prior to F1, built cars for Formula Ford, Formula Renault and Formula BMW.
