Still euphoric following his team's historic 1-2 in Canada, BMW team boss Mario Theissen has urged a note of caution, warning that there is still a long way to go.

"We must remain realistic," said Theissen today. "With eleven more races to go, this is just a 'snap-shot' and nothing else. We will continue focusing on each forthcoming race at a time aiming to add further points to our tally."

However, not wishing to appear the 'party pooper', the German fully recognises Sunday's achievement.

The 8th June 2008 will remain a special date in the history of the BMW Sauber F1 Team," he said. "After all, despite it only being our 42nd race, we succeeded in celebrating our maiden win, nevertheless. The fact that it turned out to be a one-two it into a truly memorable one. We have accomplished the next step on our agenda.

"Finding the appropriate words is difficult," he continued. "I'd like to congratulate not only Robert and Nick, who both did a fantastic job in difficult conditions, but most notably the entire team in Munich and Hinwil.

"We set ourselves the goal to close the gap to the front-runners this season and secure our maiden Grand Prix win. With seven races of the season contested we now can say: "Mission accomplished."

"We are no longer been the third power on the grid but one of the three top teams. And the fact that Robert has taken the lead in the Drivers' Championship represents the icing on the cake."
