Belmayne A1 Team Ireland head to Brands Hatch in the UK next weekend (3rd / 4th May) for the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season finale, with Adam Carroll (right) hoping to secure a top-six championship position.
The Kent circuit is the closest Team Ireland has to a home race with Irish fans turning out in force last season, Adam will be hoping to give them something to celebrate on 4th May by ending the season on the top step of the podium. Ireland is currently the form team in the series having scored more points in the last two races than any other nation, so expectations are high.
The legendary Grand Prix track is a fierce undulating circuit with fast sweeping corners, several of which have blind exits, presenting a challenge to the drivers. With experience on the circuit from his Formula 3 days Adam is primed for action as Team Ireland prepare to take on 21 nations for the final time, in what is shaping up to be a thrilling end to the 2007/08 season.
Dunboyne's Niall Quinn will continue his role as rookie driver and is aiming to help the team get off to a flying start on Friday morning (2nd May).
Adam Carroll: "It's going to be great to race in front of all the fans with this being the closest thing we have to a home race. It's been a few years since I've raced the full GP circuit but I know it well so I'm looking forward to getting back around it. We just need to keep the momentum going from the last two weekends and end the season with a good result!"
Dan Walmsley, Race Engineer: "Brands Hatch gives us the perfect stage to achieve our targets and complete our best season to date. Ireland has emerged as a genuine front running team this season and we expect to give our supporters and sponsors something to cheer about. Brands Hatch is a circuit that will really test the drivers' skill and concentration but Adam knows it well and should be able to take advantage of his knowledge. I believe our setup will be strong and the pit crew are the fastest in the pit lane so these factors will allow Adam to challenge for honours."
Mark Gallagher, Team Principal: "We're looking forward to what is as close as possible to a home race for us, particularly after a strong run of performances by the team. It's going to be an exciting weekend and our aim has to be to win after the success we enjoyed in Mexico and Shanghai. Brands Hatch is a circuit that Adam knows well and the feeling in the team is very positive ahead of the weekend. This is also an important race for us commercially and we'll be entertaining a significant number of sponsors and corporate guests. We want to finish the season on the highest possible note and I'm anticipating another great team effort from Adam, Niall, our engineers and pit crew."
