A1 Team Great Britain has its sights firmly on the top step of the podium for the team's home race this weekend at Brands Hatch. The British squad is aiming to topple France in the fight for third as the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport draws to a thrilling close. Robbie Kerr will be leading the fight for the team, with James Winslow returning as reserve and rookie driver for the final round.
Kerr will be returning to Brands Hatch for the third consecutive year for A1 Team GBR and, after scoring A1GP's first home race win in the Sprint event in season two, the 28-year-old is determined to battle for wins in both the Sprint and Feature races as he targets maximum points.
Heading into this all-important final round, Great Britain lie 12 points adrift of France, with 32 points available in Sunday's races. Kerr will go head-to-head with France's Franck Montagny as the two nations fight for bronze in this third season of A1GP.
Winslow, who undertook rookie driver duties for GBR in the Taupo, New Zealand and Eastern Creek, Australia events, has been recalled by the squad to repeat his role in the closing round of the most closely fought season of A1GP yet.
Robbie Kerr: "I cannot wait to return to Brands Hatch and race in front of the home crowd once again. My main focus is to go one better than last year and win both races. Obviously we cannot control our competitors so what happens with the Championship happens, but we'll certainly make sure our chances are good by going out there and targeting the front row in qualifying and then winning races from there."
James Winslow: "I'm really pleased to be invited back, and it's an honour to be representing GBR again especially at our home race and the last race of the season. I'm definitely looking forward to working with the team again, getting back in the car on Friday morning, and doing as much as I can throughout the weekend for the team and Robbie to help get the best possible result we can achieve. I'm sure we'll have a good weekend and Robbie can repeat last years' performance."
Katie Clements, Team Principal: "We will have quite a fight to overhaul France, but Brands Hatch gives us a huge advantage. It will be an incredible feeling to be at Brands Hatch again. For me, running a national team is such an honour and this will be my first time at our home race as Team Principal. I know that it's an honour for Robbie to be driving for GBR and he is determined to go for maximum points and is aiming for that double race win. It's going to be a fantastic weekend I'm sure."
