BMW boss Mario Theissen has revealed that there have been discussions regarding the pit stop procedure under the safety car following last week's race at Melbourne.
With the safety car called out on three occasions, several teams had their race strategies ruined when the pitlane was automatically closed. In the most famous incident, Rubens Barrichello was penalised for pitting illegally, even though if he hadn't he would have been left stranded on track having run out of fuel.
Theissen has revealed that since nobody can predict when, or if, the safety car will be called into service, and therefore cannot plan their pit stops accordingly, the matter has been raised with the FIA.
"As far as I know, nobody's really happy with the situation as it is now," he said. "There are discussions between (FIA Race Director) Charlie Whiting and the team managers and I think they will have further discussions."
