Ben Hanley is to partner Vitaly Petrov at the Barwa International Campos Team in the GP2 Asia Series. The British driver will replace Diego Nunes, who took part in the opening of the championship in Dubai last month with the Spanish team. The Brazilian will be racing for DPR for the remainder of the Asia Series.
Hanley, who originally was to participate only in the Main GP2 Series with the Spanish squad, enters the Asia Series this weekend in Indonesia, where the second event of the season will take place.
Adrián Campos said: "We are very happy with Nunes, who did nothing to be unworthy of the drive, but the possibility to switch arose and it has been possible to do it. This way we can start working with the drivers that we will have during the whole season."
Ben Hanley commented: "I'm extremely delighted to be taking part in the GP2 Asia Series. It is a real opportunity for me to get to know the team and the competitors, but also to get some experience before the Main Series starts. This weekend will be about familiarizing myself with the team and the engineers. I will try my best and get the best result possible, but since I'm joining the competition after one round is already gone, we start with a little bit of disadvantage compared to the other drivers. Still, I'm hoping to be competitive."
