While the majority of the teams begin their Jerez test programme tomorrow (Tuesday), Williams and Red Bull got their schedule underway today.
It was Red Bull which set the pace, with David Coulthard and Mark Webber completing 203 laps between them. The Scot had the edge over his Australian teammate, who completed the most laps, posting a best time 0.166s quicker.
After having to cut short its Barcelona programme following a problem with the front wing support on the FW30, Williams had Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima on duty, the Japanese driver being the quicker of the Grove pairing.
"We ran two cars on the first day of this week's test," said Sam Michael, "with both the race drivers working through the test programme. After signing off the revision to the front wing mounting system, we proceeded to work on mechanical set-up and long runs for reliability. We had no major issues and both Nico and Kazuki will continue with the programme tomorrow."
With Ferrari and Toyota not scheduled to test again until next week, having completed their six-day test in Bahrain, the remaining seven teams will join Williams and Red Bull here tomorrow.
