NEWS STORY
Three-time Grand Prix winner Johnny Herbert is one of several former F1 drivers contesting the Speedcar Series, which got underway at the weekend.
Since quitting F1 at the end of 2000, the Englishman has taken part in SportsCars, the American Le Mans Series and even 'enjoyed' a spell as Sporting Relations Manager at MidlandF1.
With the advent of Speedcar, the former Le Mans winner has chosen to join former rivals such as Jean Alesi, Gianni Morbidelli and Ukyo Katayama in what organizers clearly hope will become the NASCAR of the East.
However, watching Johnny in action at the weekend, something niggled the Pitpass team.
The twelve entries don't appear to have an orthodox number system, indeed, there's not a number 1 or number 2 but there is a 6 and 7, while Nicolas Navarro has car number 71 and Hasher Al Maktoum races car number 85.
Ferrari legend Jean Alesi has chosen a number familiar to all fans of the Maranello squad, having chosen 27, the number closely associated not only with the mercurial Frenchman but another racing legend, Gilles Villeneuve.
All of which has us wondering why Romford born Johnny chose 69.
We should be told... and soon!
