Vitantonio Liuzzi and Luca Filippi will no longer take part at the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs. According to Felipe Massa, who is promoting the event in Florianopolis (Brazil), both drivers were forced to abandon their plans due to Formula 1 commitments. “Liuzzi is still looking for a team for 2008 and Filippi has a seat-fitting scheduled for Honda that clashes with the date of our race”, admitted the Ferrari driver.
Former Minardi driver Tarso Marques will replace Liuzzi, while Argentinean Jose Maria Lopez, who raced in GP2 Series in 2005 and won the TC 2000 round on his home soil last Sunday, could be the substitute for Filippi. Massa was trying to reach Lopez by phone today before he finally closes the 25-name entry list.
The free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday (from 9:00 am local time) and the opening of the double-header race is scheduled to Sunday at 10:15 am.
