Luca Filippi has set the pace in both morning and afternoon sessions at Circuit Paul Ricard for ART Grand Prix. The Italian set the fastest lap of the day in the afternoon session with a 1:12.853 narrowly missing out on beating Andi Zuber's best lap from yesterday despite today's running being disrupted by light, intermittent rain.
Second fastest this afternoon was the aforementioned Zuber who had switched over to Campos Grand Prix, while Sebastien Buemi put in a great afternoon to take third for Arden International. Fourth fastest was Andy Soucek for DPR with Vitaly Petrov fifth for Campos. Davide Valsecchi was the quickest rookie in sixth for ART Grand Prix, while Kamui Kobayashi who had impressed in the morning blotted his copy book with a spin into the barriers which took out his left front suspension and relegated him to the bottom of the timesheets.
The past two days have formed the first half of what will be the largest GP2 Series test in history, and will be the final time that the current car will be run in anger in Europe before it is shipped out to Dubai for the GP2 Asia Series. This test will therefore form the basis of many teams' choices over their driver line-up for the new series, whilst also going a long way towards making up their minds over their 2008 drivers for the main series.
