Despite having one publisher pull out of a deal to publish his side of the story, the man at the centre of the spy saga, Nigel Stepney, is pressing ahead, having made "alternative arrangements" which he hopes will see the book hit bookshelves "early next year".
"After being dropped rather abruptly by my previous publisher I am continuing to write my autobiography and have made alternative arrangements for its publication early next year," writes Stepney on a specially created website.
"Despite opposition it will still be called Red Mist which aptly describes my present demeanour," he adds.
Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Great Ormond Street Hospital for children, a place that has become close to the Englishman's heart after working with doctors there in the past.
