NEWS STORY
Vitaly Petrov (Campos Grand Prix) Winner - The start was really incredible. I was really lucky, it was incredible the start and I passed a lot of cars. I was really happy, because its the first time I won a race. And I was really happy because my team was happy. My team won this and I give it to them.
Giorgio Pantano (Campos Grand Prix) 2nd - We did a very good job this year. We are on the last race now and also Vitaly has won with Campos. I think we both did a very good job for them and the team now is coming up on the top and the question is we both improve and we did a good job for them.
Kazuki Nakajima (Dams) 3rd - Because of traffic I lost my place and it was a shame, but I'm happy to be back on the podium again in the last event and I think the team did a good job. It's a shame to miss the win but we showed the pace in qualifying and it's good to survive such a crazy race.
Marcos Martinez (Racing Engineering) 4th - We took a risk and started on slicks. After a good start I was able to run in a top position, when it started to rain heavily. However we decided to stay out on dry tyres, which was the right decision. After some 10 difficult laps the track dried up and I had to keep a fast rhythm in order to keep my position. I would like to thank the team for the work they've done andI hope that tomorrow I have a good race.
Javier Villa (Racing Engineering) 8th - This was a difficult race, especially at the beginning there were moments when we were faster than those on rain tyres. Towards the end of the race, when things calmed down a bit, I had a very good race rhythm and this can help me tomorrow.
Bruno Senna (Arden International) DNF - The weather was good this morning so the track was very different this afternoon. I had traffic in qualifying which meant I started back down the grid and then the race was just complicated. We had a communication problem with the radio where I heard the team calling me in but they weren't so my race was gone from then really. I know Valencia well and it's a shame we couldn't finish the race because we were competitive and setting some good lap times. We'll just have to see what happens tomorrow now.
Sergio Hernandez (Trident Racing) DNF - Everything was OK at the start and, after the pit-stop, I pushed a lot and recovered up to 12th place. On lap 15 I started to feel something wrong in the back of my car, and once in the pits the crew immediately noticed that the lower left rear wishbone was gone. This was probably due to an early contact I was given in the initial melee. I'm definitely looking for a rebound in Race 2, also to thank the team for the great job done.
Kohei Hirate (Trident Racing) DNF - My start was great, and despite the dry tires on a damp track, I passed many cars and managed to clinch 4th place. At that time, water started to pour again, making the car became much more tough to tame. I was close to Nakajima and, when he made a small mistake at the first corner, I tried to attack him, but I suddenly lost control ending up in the runoff area. Unfortunately, the anti-stall device didn't work, leaving me stopped and retired. I hope to get back to the top tomorrow in Race 2.
