In a statement issued by the FIA this morning, it was confirmed that McLaren has until 16.00 (BST) on Friday (21st September) to lodge an appeal against last week's decision by the World Motor Sport Council.
The statement reads as follows:
"The FIA has received a number of enquiries from the international press regarding the deadline for any appeal by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes against the decision of the World Motor Sport Council hearing of Thursday, September 13th.
After conferring with the Secretariat of the International Court of Appeal the FIA understands that the deadline for such an appeal is 1700 hrs (CET) on Friday, September 21st."
Earlier this week the Woking team announced that it would not appeal the penalty incurred in Hungary when it was excluded as a constructor. Previously, Ron Dennis has intimated that he might not appeal the WMSC's decision in the interest of the sport and for the sake of "closure".
