Italian police investigating the spy scandal have described documents and statements supplied to them from the UK as "useful".
"The work is ongoing, although there are no other people implicated at the moment," Sergio Mariotti, head of the Italian postal police's investigative division, told The Guardian. "We have acquired all the documents and sworn statements from England, which will be useful."
It was the Italian Postal Police who seized computers and telephones from Nigel Stepney in July, after Ferrari had accused him of passing information to Mike Coughlan
"The exchange of documents included not only data about the cars but also results of tests on individual engine and aerodynamic components," said postal police director, Domenico Vulpiani. He revealed that "sophisticated forensic computer techniques" had been used in an attempt to read cancelled and encrypted messages.
"McLaren knew technical data as well as Ferrari racing strategies, which allowed a sizeable saving on their own trials," he added.
