A1 Team Great Britain has a final chance to run on home soil at Silverstone tomorrow and Wednesday, before departing for Circuit Park Zandvoort, Netherlands for round one of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport. Having set the second fastest time during official testing at the Northamptonshire venue last month, the team will use the two day test to fine-tune the car and prepare the team for the all-important series opener on September 30th . With a modified qualifying format and a Feature Race involving two mandatory pit stops, the performance of the pit crew will be even more important in determining race success in the prestigious A1GP series.
A1 Team GBR has been among the most competitive teams in the series since its inception, finishing 3rd in the opening two seasons and ending the 2006/07 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport with a strong sequence of results which saw the team challenge New Zealand for the runner-up slot. The team's performance in testing last month underlined its determination to once again challenge for outright victory and bring the World Cup of Motorsport home to Great Britain for the first time.
Oliver Jarvis and Robbie Kerr will share the driving duties in this week's test as they try to ensure Great Britain remains at the forefront of the highly competitive A1GP series. Jarvis will be driving the car at Zandvoort with Kerr taking over for round two at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic. The test will mark the on-track debut of the team's new livery which was officially unveiled at the historic Brooklands Circuit in Surrey earlier this month.
Oliver Jarvis: "It's good to get a second run in the car ahead of the 2007-08 A1GP season opener at Zandvoort in just under two weeks time, and a valuable opportunity to spend more time reacquainting myself with the team."
Robbie Kerr: "It's great to get more running in the British A1GP car before Brno, and drive it for the first time in its new livery. I'm confident that, as in the previous test, the team will work well together to gather all the information we need in preparation for Zandvoort and Brno."
