Despite claims that he has two more races in which to up his game or face being dropped by his team, Ralf Schumacher says he is not worried, dismissing the reports as media speculation.

"Recently we have been a bit up and down with the pace," said the German, referring to a number disappointing performances, most notably in Monaco. "Myself, I have been struggling a little bit but we will see. The competition is very tough, teams have made progress, like Honda, Renault, Red Bull, so particularly in the area where we fight for points it has become very tight.

"In Monaco it was obviously a big struggle in qualifying," he admitted, "which I hope won't be the case here. We can, if everything runs well, fight with the teams I just mentioned but we have to wait and see."

Referring to the reports of his imminent departure, the six-time GP winner said: "I think there is a lot of talk due to the results I've had recently and I think that's only normal but you don't need to worry about me.

"Not everything you read is quite true," he added, "that's the way it is. At the moment we are simply concentrating on getting some results. Neither myself nor the team has been brilliant so far and that is what we are concentrating on, nothing else has been discussed anyway.

Asked if he was worried, the German replied: "Not yet, no."

"Obviously I'm not happy with the points we achieved this year, with the results I've achieved," he added, "but I'm not too frustrated yet. There are times in motorsport when it is difficult, that's what Formula One is all about. You have to fight through it that is all."
